Management

CONSERVATION

To guarantee the permanence in time of our "precious heritage" contained in the various formats and materials, in optimal condition and with its own characteristics, in such a way as to guarantee, at the same time, the permanence of our memory and of the history of the government of the Order.

In order to achieve this objective, we are carrying out different initiatives such as:

  • Constant evaluation of the environmental conditions in the archive repository (lighting, air conditioning, relative humidity, temperature), as well as constant care of the arrangement of furniture, containers and documentary units.
  • Inventory and cataloging of documentary collections and other materials.
  • Restoration.
  • Preventive maintenance (periodic prophylaxis and disinfection of furniture and document units).
  • Digitalization of some of the documentary series.

VALORIZATION

To manage the AGA as a living pastoral and cultural asset of the Order of St. Augustine, a source of jurisprudence for the government of the Order and a reflection of the life, activity, meaning and history of the Order.

Some of the actions that we are carrying out and that aim at the constant valorization of our documentary heritage:

  • Regulation of our services and standardization of our technical processes.
  • Attention to the requests of the friars of the Order and researchers interested in our documentary heritage.
  • Agreements with some academic institutions to advance technical processes and initiatives that make possible the knowledge and accessibility of the AGA's documentary collection.
  • Participation in research projects in which the AGA is a source and instrument for the production of knowledge in the field of the history of the Church, the Order and the Augustinian family, art and culture.

TRANSMISSION

To make our documentary heritage known and communicate our memory to the friars of the Order and to the users of the AGA, bearing in mind that the Augustinian General Archives is the most important source of historical memory of the Order.

  • Services of the AGA (consultation, photo reproduction, library of the Order's history).
  • Scientific publications of some documentary series.
  • Use of current information and communication technology tools.
  • Constant updating of the website.
  • General Archive news blog.
